Tucker Drops All Three in Day Five of MLB The Show 20 Players Tournament

After a slow start to the MLB The Show 20 Players Tournament, Cole Tucker is looking to finish out his schedule strong and have fun while doing it. He faced some friendly competition on Wednesday, his second day in a row playing, and dropped all three games.

The MLB The Show 20 Players Tournament has not gone the way Cole Tucker thought it would go on the scoreboard. He had just three wins in his first four days of play, but played some exciting games throughout the tournament. He looked to reverse his fortunes on Wednesday as he added three more games to his ledger and played in back-to-back days for the first time during the tournament. However, it did not go his way once again as he dropped all three games and fell to 3-16.

He would start his day with a game against Ryne Stanek and the Miami Marlins as he was looking to get off to a hot start, like he did the day before. Chris Archer got the start and right away things didn't go Tucker's way. He gave up one run in the top of the first and found himself behind 1-0 before he stepped to the plate. Tucker's offensive struggles continued as he was unable to put up runs in the first or second inning. Stanek added another run in the top of the second and it was enough to hold on for the 2-0 win. Tucker went down one, two, three in the third and fell to 3-14 on the year.

Up next, was a NL Central Division match-up as Tucker took on the Cincinnati Red's Amir Garret, the leader in the National League Central standings. Jameson Taillon got the start and Tucker was behind right from the start giving up a three-run home run in the first to fall behind 3-0. After the Reds added on another in the top of the 2nd, Tucker added his first run of the day when he hit a solo home run with Josh Bell to cut the Reds lead to 4-1. However, Garret would add on three more runs and hand Tucker his second loss of the day, 7-1.

Tucker's third game came against Juan Soto and the Washington Nationals as he tried to salvage at least one game on the day. After neither team scored a run in the first, Tucker continued his success with Gregory Polanco hitting a solo home run to get out to a 1-0 lead. It was the third time during the tournament that Tucker hit a home run with Polanco, and he posted on Twitter that he loves playing with this guy. However, he wasn't able to hold on as Juan Soto scored two more runs and handed Tucker his third and final loss of the day.

The three loss day dropped Tucker's record to 3-16 on the season as he continues to sit at the bottom of the NL Central. Milwiakee's Josh Jade jumped up in the standings improving to 10-9 and moving up to second place in the standings while Amir Garret continues his hold on the top spot with a record of 12-8. While Tucker's run at the championship seems pretty much out of reach, he has been having fun and a Pittsburgh Charity benefits. Just for playing in the tournament, MLB, the MLB Players Association, and SONY entertainment will each donate $5,000 to the Pittsburgh Boys and Girls Club Charity.

Tucker will be back in action for the Players Tournament on Saturday, April 25th, when he has two more match-ups. He will take on two LA teams as he faces Ty Buttrey (LAA) and Gavin Lux (LAD) starting at 9 p.m. Follow along with Tucker's journey here or watch the game live on his twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/Cotuck.
