Tucker Picks up Third Win of The Show Tournament on Day Four

After being shutout in his third day of play, Cole Tucker got back in the win column on day four of the MLB 20 The Show Players Tournament. He moved his record to 3-13 and now just looks to finish the season strong while having fun.

For Pirates shortstop Cole Tucker, the MLB 20 The Show Players Tournament has not turned out the results he was looking for. After four days of play, he sits at just 3-13 and sits in last place in the National League Central Division. However, he is having fun doing it and it is giving the fans a break from the everyday normal of staying at home as we wait for baseball to come back. Tucker was able to get back in the win column after being shutout on day three of the tournament.

He started his day with a match-up against Niko Goodrum of the Detroit Tigers and, after a scoreless first inning, he got on the board with a bang. Gregory Polanco stepped up with one out in the second and crushed a solo home run over the right-center field wall to give Tucker a 1-0 lead. A few batters later, Tucker would add on with an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0. Keone Kela would come on to pitch a scoreless top of the third and Tucker would hold on for his third win of the tournament.

After hitting a home run with Polanco, Tucker had some fun with the Pirates right fielder on Twitter. He joked saying "I owe you dinner bro" after helping him to the 2-0 win and his third win of the tournament. He moved to within two games of Matt Carpenter for fourth place in the division and was trying to get on a role. He would face Trevor May of the Minnesota Twins looking to win back-to-back games for the first time in the tournament.

However, the second game of the day didn't got so smoothly as Tucker got tagged for three runs in the first inning. Jameson Taillon got the start and, after getting the first two outs, he gave up a single and a double that resulted in the three runs. Polanco was back at it again with his second home run of the day and got Tucker to within two runs. However, Tucker couldn't keep May off the board as he added on three more runs in the second and went on to win 6-1. Tucker dropped to 3-11 in the tournament and needed a win in the third game to get back on track.

Tucker's third game of the day came against Luke Jackson of the Atlanta Braves and it would he a tough match-up. Chris Archer got the start and after throwing a scoreless first inning, he got tagged for three runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Jackson would add on another run in the third and ended up handing Tucker another 4-0 loss. Tucker could only muster one hit in the game and couldn't keep Gregory Polanco's home run swing going as he fell to 3-12 in the tournament. He ended the day with another loss to Eduardo Gonzalez of the Boston Red Sox as he finished his third 1-3 day of the tournament.

As far as the standings go, Tucker still sits in fifth place in the NL Central sitting five games behind what is a three-way the for the second spot in the division. Matt Carpenter (STL), Ian Happ (CHC), and Josh Nader (MIL) all sit at 8-8 in tournament play, while Amir Garrett leads the way at 10-6. With two more days of play left in the tournament, Tucker is looking to finish strong and keep having fun, while entertaining us before the official season begins. Plans are in the works to get going at the end of May so hopefully Tucker will be really on the field again soon.

Tucker is back at it tonight, as he has a three game set of tournament play. He will face-off against Ryne Stanek (MIA), Amir Garret (CIN), and Juan Soto (WSH) starting at 9 p.m. You can follow along with Tucker's tournament journey here and watch all the games live at https://m.twitch.tv/cotuck/profile
