As we continue to watch the development of young guys in the Pirates system, there was a move yesterday that brought some more defensive prowess to Indianapolis's outfield. Bligh Madris was promoted to Triple-A, adding now five outfielders to the Indian's active roster. As the Pittsburgh Pirates start the process of becoming competitive again, we continue to keep an eye on the Minor Leagues, as we watch guys develop. On Wednesday, there was a minor move that added another outfielder to the mix at Triple-A Indianapolis and brought a whole lot of defensive help to the Indians. 25-year-old outfielder Bligh Madris was promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis yesterday and will get his first shot at the Triple-A level. The 2020 Rule 5 Draft is scheduled to take place on December 10th, 2020, as part of the Winter Meetings and the Pirates have some interesting prospects eligible. We will break down all the Rule 5 players and whether or not the Pirates should worry about losing them or not. During the 2017 draft, the Pittsburgh Pirates seemed to have a focus on power potential as they got to the later rounds of the draft. Guys who had been showing power in college seemed to be a priority with guys like Mason Martin, Cal Mitchell, and Chris Sharpe all taken. Trevor Williams had a slow start in his Grapefruit League Debut giving up four first inning runs against the Phillies on Sunday. The offense did battle back, but didn't have enough to overcome the deficit. Entering the 2020 season, one of the Pittsburgh Pirates's keys to success was a bounce back year from Trevor Williams. Williams made his spring training debut in the Pirates split squad game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday and things didn't start out in his favor. Williams pitched his two innings of work giving up four runs, all in the first inning, on four hits while walking a batter in the Pirates 4-3 loss. He had trouble finding the first out of the game as a Roman Quinn double and a JT Realmuto hit by pitch left runners on first and second with nobody out.
