Pirates in the Playoffs: Starling Marte

Image
After a tragic off-season, an old friend gets a new lease on life with the Miami Marlins. Starling Marte was traded from the Pirates to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the off-season and is now a member of the Miami Marlins in the NLDS. The 2020 off-season was one of the craziest off-seasons for former Pirates outfielder Starling Marte. There were rumors swirling that the Pirates were going to trade the outfielder and they eventually did in January sending the outfielder to the Arizona Diamondbacks. A few months later, Marte had to deal with the loss of his wife Noelia Marte to a heart attack. It was a lot for Marte to go through, and the outfielder thought about quitting baseball, but he came back and has been rewarded for his hard work. He was one of the hottest bats on the Arizona Diamondbacks and would be traded to the Miami Marlins before the trade deadline. Now, he is in the National League Division Series with the Marlins, albeit suffering from a broken left hand. His mo...

Ever since the year 2000, the Pittsburgh Pirates have more likely than not had a star out in left field. Guys like Brian Giles and Jason Bay all made their marks on the organization, but who claims the top spot since the 2000 season. Ever since the turn of the century, the Pittsburgh Pirates have been blessed with several strong outfielders who went on to be all-star caliber players. All three positions have seen their fair share of stars, but the left fielder has always seemed to be the ones who took the spotlight, mainly for their offensive prowess. That is what we are going to look at on today's edition of Saturday Morning Rankings. We will take a look at the top five left fielders in Pittsburgh...

Reynolds Looking to Continue Rookie Year Pace in 2020

Image
As we await the start of the 2020 MLB season due to Corona Virus concerns, we will take a look at every player on the Pirates roster and outline what they will bring to the table and projections for the 2020 season. I hope this brings some positive reading to the current situation and helps us all as we wait for baseball. Before the 2020 season, not many people had probably heard of the name Bryan Reynolds. He was the second piece of the Andrew McCutchen trade that brought Kyle Crick and Reynolds to Pittsburgh. Not many thought that highly of Reynolds at the time because he was just a class A outfielder who was hitting .312 with the San Jose Giants. By the end of April 2019 Reynolds was in the Major Leagues after the collision that sent Starling Marte and Erik Gonzalez to the injured list. Reynolds rise through the Major Leagues took just three years and he saw success at each level of the Minor Leagues. He hit over .300 each season and used his above average speed...

As we await the start of the 2020 MLB season due to Corona Virus concerns, we will take a look at every player on the Pirates roster and outline what they will bring to the table and projections for the 2020 season. I hope this brings some positive reading to the current situation and helps us all as we wait for baseball. After the departure of Starling Marte over the off-season, many were wondering who was going to man center field for the Pirates in 2020. There were no experienced starting center fielders on the roster, and it was looking like a utility man was going to take the role. That's when the Pirates signed veteran outfielder, and World Series champion, Jarrod Dyson to a one year, two million dollar contract. Dyson comes to the Pirates from the Arizona Diamomdbacks, where he played for the last two seasons. However, when Dyson reported to Pirates camp, he sounded optimistic but not particularly excited. When he reported to camp he said "there ain't to...
