We're Back: Buccos Cove is Making a Return
After a long hiatus, I'm back to writing about what I love, Pittsburgh Pirates baseball. Can't wait to be putting out content again.
Hi everyone! First of all, I know it has been a long hiatus since my last post so I figured I would explain what a whirlwind it has been. I started this blog back in July of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to use the free time that the pandemic offered us to pursue writing about one of my passions in life, our Pittsburgh Pirates. I was working as a Promotions Coordinator at a local radio station and the job allowed me the opportunity to grow professionally as well as continue writing on a regular basis. We went strong through the COVID-shortened 2020 season and kept it going through the off-season and into the 2021 season. I have been a Pirates fan since the age of 12 and have regularly throughout my middle school and high school years, and even today, been constantly asked "Why do you like the Pirates when they stink?" This blog allowed me the opportunity to not only show why I love this team, but to dive deep into my passion and even gave me a better understanding of the Minor Leagues and how the prospects, and under the radar guys in the system, were doing.
However, I was looking to continue my professional career on the path I wanted to pursue and an opportunity arose in August of 2021. I was hired as the new Sports Information Director at Wheeling University, a Division II school in nearby Wheeling, West Virginia. When I saw the job open I had to jump on the opportunity. I love sports of all kinds, with baseball of course being my passion, and this job allowed me to work hands on in sports every single day. I began that endeavour and while I love the fact that I get to work with college athletes and help them grow everyday, the free time that I had in my previous job went away due to the demands of being an SID. So, I had to put my blog on hold and took a year and a half off to settle into my new role. Almost two years later I am growing professionally and am very proud to have helped Wheeling University Athletics and their athletes continued to grow on the field and through their social media, website, and other content areas.
This leads me to the reason for this whole blog post, I am bringing Buccos Cove back. After watching the Pirates throughout the 2022 season, I realized that while I love just watching the Pirates as a fan, I love writing about the team and diving into the organization as a whole even more. However, the free time that I had before still isn't available and I had to figure out a balance to be able to provide consistent content to my readers and social media followers. After a few weeks of thinking, I have a plan in place that I feel will provide the best content and will continue to display my passion for this organization. As we did before, I will never give you a standard game recap that you can find anywhere else. I will share my opinions on the team and it's players and we will look at the organization as a whole, covering the Major League team as well as stories from it's affiliates in Indianapolis, Altoona, Bradenton, Greensboro, and the FSL and DSL Pirates.
And I can't do any of that without people like you who follow along with my content and take the time out of your day to read/share/comment on my blogs and social media posts. I once again thank you all for staying with me through my hiatus and I'm sorry I left so abruptly and with no explanation of what was going on. I am glad to be back writing again and, while it may not be as many regular blog posts as we did in the past, I plan on incorporating social media posts, Videos, and a slew of other content as well. Be sure to follow us on both Facebook (@BuccosCove) and Twitter (@Buccos_Cove) as well as commenting and sharing these blog posts. Again I appreciate everyone's patience and can't wait for another exciting season of Pirates baseball in 2023. Let's Go Bucs!
